The Semiotics of Colors in Al Maghout Poetry

Abstract:
Mohammed Maghout expresses his feelings through colors and uses colors to communicate his ideas. He also uses colors to define and characterize his poetry and render it different from what is conventional so that it provokes more, appeals to the eye as well, and seems more poetic. Little doubt colors and light play creative and artistic roles in literature as they illuminate meanings, make them more lively and dynamic, and easier to understand and receive by the audience. On the other hand, literary and poetic expression renders light and colors more beautiful and charming. The interaction of colors and words can create a welcome mystery.
Colors are one of the concerns of Mohammed Maghout, who uses them in his poems and employs their symbolic, and aesthetic potentials. Colors, in addition to being a manifestation of realism in poetic images, convey cultural messages because colors are part and parcel of the mythology and cultural heritage of nations and serve as a medium of beauty.
