Obstacles of the Private Sector's Participation in Iran's Education: Case Study the Non-Profit Schools

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the views of the school principals and scholars in economics of education on the obstacles which render private sector participation in Iran' education. Sample included 284 school principals and ten of the well-known scholars in the field of economics of education who were working at Tehran universities. Samples were selected via the cluster and the purposeful sampling methods respectively. In order to collect data, a questionnaire with 62 closed items was applied. T-test for one sample was used for data analysis. The findings showed that the government's negative view and its mistrust to private sector potential to provide educational bases, participation for just economic benefits, lack of private sector's motivation entering educational market, lack of facilities anticipation and supporting and facilitating actions are amongst the most important obstacles which participants believe would not allow that the none for profit schools be expanded effectively in Iran.
