Theological and Political Pathology of Islamic Unity in Iran: Dichotomy of Radicalism and Secularism

Narratives and traditions of "Asbab al-nuzul" conduct commentators to express God's intention from his own words. Because, sometimes, it is impossible to understand the meaning of the verses by language and contexual structure, but it should be taken from outside of the Quranic text. It is clear that relying on "Asbab al-nuzul" in commentary is different from one verse to the other and from one commentator to another commentator. On the contrary to the previous commentaries, the role of this kind of narratives in the current century has been unimportant. This article via comparative-Analytical method is going to study position and function of Asbab al-nuzul narratives in al-Manar and al-Furghan commentaries. The result shows that because of some reasons such as rationalism on understanding of the Quran, unreliability of companion and successor speech, their deductions into narrations, free quote of the hadiths, weakness on chain and text of the hadith and some others the attitude of theses commentators is negative. Clarification of the impact of this attitude in utilizing of this kind of narrations as well as their function in al-Manar and al-Furghan is the other matter have been researched in this article.
