The Effect of Blended Instruction on Students Mathematics Learning

Abstract:
Blended instruction is a new approach that combines online digital media with traditional classroom methods. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of blended instruction method on the elementary students learning rate in mathematics, and its comparison with the traditional (face to face) method. The quasi-experimental with two groups of experimental and control was used. The experimental groups were taught with blended-base instruction and the control groups were taught face to face instruction to fulfill the case from Rouzbeh elementary school, two Grade-three classes with 29 students were chosen, one as on experimental group and the other as a control group. At the beginning of the experiment a test, as a pre-test was given to each group in order to measure the amount of students learning rate in mathematics. In the analysis of the obtained results, in order to determine the amount of each groups learning rates and to compare them with each an independent t-test was used. The results showed that there were significant differences between mean scores of the two groups. Thus, the effect of blended learning with face to face method is confirmed. Therefore, this finding indicates that blended learning approach affects the process of teaching- learning positively, and that they can be used for improving and strengthening for the improvement of the students achievements in educational settings.
