Mediating Model of Optimism on the Relationship between Personality Types, Religious Beliefs, social Interest and Mental Health

Aim of this study was to determine mediating effects of optimism on the relation of personality types, religious beliefs, social interest and mental health. The study population consisted of all employees at Allameh Tabataba’i University. Through random cluster sampling, 151 subjects were selected. All these employees responded to Crandalls social interest scale, Mental Health Questionnaire (GHQ-18), Behavioral Patterns scale (type A), Life Orientation Questionnaire revised (LOT-R) and operation to religious beliefs (Mabad). Structural equation modeling was used to assess the mediating effects of optimism on the relationship between personality types, religious beliefs, social interest and mental health and data analyzed with (AMOS). Findings indicated whole model fit. In the global model, results also indicated that the relationship between personality types, religious beliefs, social interest and mental health was mediated by optimism.
