Moderating Role of Religious Orientation on the Relation between Social Well-being and Positive/negative Past Dimensions of Time Perspective

According to the multi-dimensional definition of health and wellbeing, the study of factors that affecting on social wellbeing, requires an interdisciplinary approach and incorporate of the psychological, social and spiritual views. Time perspective is a one of the psychological insights that identifies people adjust on the cognitive focusing of time, with different characters. The aim of this study was to investigate the moderating role of religious orientation on the relation between social wellbeing, and positive/negative past dimensions of time perspective. Subjects of this study were 104 male and female students of Tehran's universities that were selected through multistage clustering method. Research instrument was 63 question forms of Time Perspective Inventory, social wellbeing questionnaire (Keys and Shapiro, 1004) and religious orientation questionnaire. To evaluate the relations among latent variables Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis were used. The results showed that the social wellbeing could be predicted by positive and negative past dimensions of time perspective, and also religious orientation variable has moderating role between them. This finding has practical implications in the development of interventions to improving social wellbeing.
