Historical Examination of the Reflection of the Exegete's Theological Bases in Interpretation of the Verse of Immortality

Abstract:
The issue of "immortality" in the 107th verse of the "Hud" Surah has been accompanied by the Divine Providence that about that verse the Muslim exegetes all agreed about the eternity of the nonbelievers in the Hell, but the eternity of the sinners of the believers in Hell is a topic of difference. The question of the present article is that whether the Asharite, Mutazilite and Imami exegetes were influenced by their theological Schools to interpret the verse of immortality (Hud: 107) or they ignored the principles of their theological Schools in some cases. The present research shows that the Imami and Mutazilite exegetes were influenced by their theological Schools in different historical centuries from the past to the present. The early Asharite exegetes until the tenth century AH interpreted the verse with a complete influence of their theological School, but the later Ashari exegetes in their thirteenth and fourteenth centuries AH left the common interpretation among the Asharites in their books and interpreted the verse in a new framework.
