The Study of location citation iranian papers in filed's of chemistry in science citation index

Citation location indicates the important of citations and the impact of the cited article on the citing publications. The aim of this study was to calculate the value of the cited articles using its location in the citing publication in the field of chemistry. Moreover, we aimed to identify the association between number of citations and the value of citation locations.
This was a descriptive study in which a citation analysis method was used to investigate the Iranian chemistry articles, indexed in ISI WOS. The study population included 11035 citations to 628 Iranian chemistry publications which were published in 167 journals in 2010. To identify the association between number of citations and value of citation locations, Spearman correlation coefficient was used.
Findings: The majority of articles were cited in Introduction, followed by Experimental and Results/Discussion sections.The majority of papers (86.55) acquired the lowest value (.015-1) regarding citation locations. There was a significant positive relationship between number of citations and value of citation locations (r=0.78).
Citation location can evaluate the impact and quality of documents better than the number of citations it receives. Number of citations can be a good predictor for the value of citation locations.
