The Relationship between Achievement Goal Orientation and Self-worth with Academic Help Seeking Students

Academic help-seeking is one important learning strategy that achievement goal orientation and self-worth as contributing factors in this attention. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between achievement goal orientation and self-worth with academic help seeking students. The study was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population consisted of all second grade high school boy students Region 4 of education in Tabriz in academic years of 2016-2017 that the population of 340 according to Morgan table and multi-stage random sampling were chosen. Data were collected using the help-seeking questionnaire Habibi and Sarmad (1385), achievement goal orientation questionnaire Elliot and McGregor (2001), self-worth questionnaire Crocker and et al (2003) were applied. Data obtained using Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis (Enter) in software SPSS.21 was analyzed. The results showed that between mastery-oriented orientations, performance orientation with help-seeking relationship significant positive correlation and there is significant negative relationship between performance- avoidance with help- eeking. Also there is significant positive relationship between self-worth with help-seeking. On the one hand the results of multiple regression analysis indicated that variable performance-achievement goal orientation and masteryavoidance goal orientations and self-worth variable capable of criterion variables (academic help-seeking) to significantly predict in students. So planning further studies understanding the factors in promoting goal orientation, self-worth and academic help-seeking in recommended.
