The Study of Gender Differences in Online Open Access Articles in Nanothechnology and Nanosscience

The aim of the present research is to investigate the general patterns of scientific production, impact and open access publishing of female internationally active researchers in comparison with their male counterparts.
The present research is conducted using scientometric and webometric methods. This research investigate with comparative approach, the status of male and female scientific productions and the status of open access and non open access papers of them in the web in the field of Nanosscience& Nanotechnology. Research population consists of all internationally female and male researchers in the field of Nanosscience & Nanotechnology contributing three or more than three papers during 2007 to 2009.
The research results showed that there are no significant difference between females and males regarding their means of open access papers and impact. In other words gender factor has no effect on approach to the open access publishing. But there is significant difference between the frequency of male and female’s open access researches in favor of men.
Gender has no effect on open access publishing, citation, visibility and impact factor.
