Formalistic approach to the creation of Peacock sermon in Nahj al-Balagha

Abstract:
In 20th century,most text-oriented literary criticism had their roots in linguistic studies.Formalism,one of the most modern movement of the twentieth century, drew special attention to its “formal” features that is, to the qualities and internal relations of linguistic signs. Formalists highlighted the shape and form of the text to analyse the cohesion of literary text, therefore they paid less attention to historical context, the purpose of the work and poet’s life.
In the present study, the sermon “creation the peacock” of “Nahj al-Balagha” is analyzed by using and inspiring perspective of formalist criticism to approach the balance between form and meaning and to analyze the important criteria of the text to approach Intertextual relations of the text and its structural functions.
The findings of this study by using the balance between the phonetic, lexical, figurative, allusive statements, virtual applications and Defamiliarization of the full text of the sermon approaches the purpose of the sermon ,which is the beauty explanation of the creation of Peacock.
