The Impact of Agricultural Policies of Iran's State on the Use of Groundwater through Developmental Programs (1984-1978)

Since the generating the developmental programs, one of the main goals of them was the agricultural expansion of Iran, and increase in lands of cultivation. For this purpose, different irrigation projects were carried out and groundwater for economical efficiency was evaluated. In this period, the government by the appropriation of funding and various loans, tried to exploit groundwater more and conducted the specific policies for the sake of drilling deep and shallow wells. This research intends to analyze the impacts of agricultural policies of government on exploitation of groundwater resources and to be indicated that, since the performing the format of unsustainable development and the domination of instrumental look toward the natural resources and the attention to the economical efficiency of groundwater resources. These policies conducted without the true consideration of the volume of groundwater and therefore, decreased the amount of these resources. Since the government considered the economical and instrumental aspects of water resources for agricultural and economic development, performing this policy never stop and have been continued till now.
