The Possibility of an Islamic Civilization in Today's World A Look at Foundations and Capacities

Scholars of civilization agree over the historical existence of the Islamic civilization and its unique role in the world civilization, as they acknowledge its vitality throughout the history. However, given what the Islamic civilization has left and the minor role it had in the world civilization in recent centuries, the question has arisen for scholars and intellectuals of whether the Islamic civilization can still have a dynamic competitive contribution to today’s world, which has undergone fundamental changes. The present paper has, through a historical method and scientific explanation, come to the conclusion that, despite its intentional or unintentional inactivity, the Islamic civilization can have an effective role to play in the world again, provided that the path is paved for its presence in the civilizational competition by Islamic civilization-making foundations and capacities.
