Role of Social and Cognitive Factor in Predicting Disordered Eating Behavior among Iranian Female Teenagers

Abstract:
The aim of this research was to predict disordered eating behavior accordingto one early maladaptive schema and socio cultural attitudes towards appearance. The method of present research is descriptive correlation. For this purpose, 190 female students of one to third year of high school of Shiraz were selected by cluster sampling method and completed the questionnaires. Young's schema Questionnaire short form (SQ-SF), Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) Garner and Garfinkel (1979) and Socio Cultural attitudes Towards Appearance Questionnaire- Mail Version( SATAQ-M) were used to evaluate early maladaptive schemas (MES), disordered eating behavior(DEB) and Socio Cultural attitudes Towards Appearance. Research analyzed was conducted through the use of SPSS21 software. Pearson's correlation coefficient, showed that a significant correlation between the (DEB), MES and Socio Cultural attitudes Towards Appearance. Stepwise regression Indicated impaired autonomy, gratification impaired, restricted gratification and anxiety could predict (DEB).
