Analysis of Climate Elements in Road Accidents

Abstract:

The injuries and damage caused by road accidents are important and abundant, which is unfortunately overlooked in most cases. The present study has analyzed and investigated the climatic elements affecting the occurrence of accidents based on the study of credible domestic and foreign sources, as well as the analysis of information from 114 in the northwest region of Iran. The research method is descriptive-analytical in terms of its nature. The study area in this study is Ardabil province. The data used includes the daily and hourly statistics of accidents (fatalities, injuries and losses) in the three years leading up to 2014. In this research, geospatial data, police intelligence data bank statistics, and hourly data of synoptic meteorological stations were extracted from databases and statistics of meteorological organization and also using library method. The findings showed that two time and climatic elements were effective in the spatial distribution of crashes of the studied axes. The element of time, combined with climatic conditions, showed that in most axes, most accidents occurred at certain times.
