The Role of Police Surveillance Cameras in Reducing Driving Violations
With the arrival of communities in the world of information and communication technology, the traffic police control tool has also changed; surveillance cameras are one of these new technologies. The purpose of this study was to study the role of surveillance cameras in recording offenses in reducing traffic offenses from the viewpoint of the city of Kashan citizens. The present study is a survey type. The statistical population of the study consisted of 18-64 year-old citizens of Kashan in 2016, using the Cochran formula; the sample size is estimated to be 260. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The findings of the research show that police use of tangible control (Presence of road traffic officers in the streets) and intangible control (Regulatory cameras and violations records) has a significant effect on the amount of driving violations respectively (r=-0.129 and r=-0.329). In other words, with increasing tight police control, the amount of driving violations decreases. Also, the consent of the citizens by installing tangible and intangible control cameras with an average of 3.49, the highest average, and cash penalty cases with an average of 2.87, account for the lowest average.
