Sociological Explanation of the Social Dimension of Gender Inequality (Case Study: East Azarbaijan Province in 1396)

The issue of research is that based on internal data and reports the ratio of active women or founders of NGOs in the province of East Azarbaijan is very low compared to men. The main question is that what sociological factors involved in the fact that women can not become members or founders of NGOs. The theoretical framework of research is the approaches of interactionism and feminism. The method of research is survey and the tool of research is questionnaire. The statistical population includes urban women with at least twenty-five years, higher education and unemployed. The sample size is 371 female and the sampling method is quota-cluster sampling. Correlation analysis showed that the relationship between gender and patriarchy variables with the inability of women to establish or join the NGOs is .48 And .36. The gender variable is more correlated with the problem than patriarchy variable. These relationships are direct and significant. Based on these findings, women are more unable in establishing or joining NGOs to the extent that community expectations of women's sexual roles are greater and patriarchy is stronger in culture and tradition. Based on regression analysis, gender and patriarchy variables explain 26 percent of variance of dependent variable.
