Abstract:
In wireless sensor networks (WSNs)ý, ýsensor nodes have limited resources with regard to computationý, ýstorageý, ýcommunication bandwidthý, ýand the most important of allý, ýenergy supplyý. ýIn additioný, ýin many applications of sensor networksý, ýwe need to send images to a sink nodeý. ýThereforeý, ýwe have to use methods for sending images in which the number and volume of packets are optimized to save energyý. ýData compression is one of the optimization methods in energy consumptioný. ýIn this paperý, ýan effective compression algorithm is proposed to reduces computational and energy consumption and eventuallyý, ýincreases the overall network lifetimeý. ýHere iný, ýwe use a combination of three DCT, ýDWT and SWT wavelet transforms to achieve our goalsý. ýSimulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves its goals with regard to data compression and reduction of energy consumptioný, ýand improves the network lifetime.
