Abstract:
Background And Aim
Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections particularly Gram-negative ones. However, the nephrotoxicity and oxidative damage caused by gentamicin limit its long-term clinical use. Grean tea contains some phenol compounds called catechins which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. AQP1 is a protein that make a water channel in renal tubules that transported water during the appical and baso-lateral of the renal tubuls. To cheching the protective effect of Grean tea extract(GTE) in AQP1 gene expression in Gentamicin treated rat kidney, this search has prepared.
Methods
In this experimental study,30 Wistar male rats 6-4 weeks 160 - 200g were used and divided into 5 groups (n=6) to receive saline; gentamicin 20 mg/kg ; GTE 200 mg/kg/B.W. ; GM GTE 200 mg/kg/B.W. ;intraperitoneal for 10 days and control group. Biochemical changes in blood urea and creatinine levels evaluated Based on the reaction of Bertolt and Chlorometric and Gaffa method and renal changes were evaluated by means of histochemistry and immunohistochemistry. The Data was analyzed with using of one-way ANOVA, followed by Tukey's HSD tests using SPSS 21.
Results
The mean of Levels of creatinine and blood urea increased significantly in the First group compared to the control group (P
Conclusion
From the findings of this study, it can be concluded that green tea extract in this dose and duration can not have a protective effect against the renal toxicity of gentamicin
