The environmental health status of female student dormitories in 2017: Damghan school of public Health and Damghan University

Student dormitories play an important role in personal, educational and occupational improvement. Good status of dormitories will not only lead to improved academic performance, but also improve quality of life. The purpose of this study was to survey the environmental health status of female student dormitories of Damghan school of public Health and Damghan University.
This descriptive cross-sectional study has been done by using standard dormitory health inspection checklists in female student dormitories of Damghan school of Public Health (1 dormitory) and Damghan University (4 dormitories) in autumn and winter of 1396. Data analysis was done by use of Excel 2010 software.
In this study, the percentage of health status compliance with health regulations in Kowsar, Alzahra, Ma-soumeh, Maryam and Zeynab dormitories was 80.42%, 79.02%, 79.72%, 77.62% and 80.42%, respectively. The maxi-mum and minimum compliance percentage in the studied dormitories was related to prayer room (100%) and solid waste management (45.45%).
The results of the study indicate a low compliance rate of solid waste management with the health regula-tions. So, due to the risk of health problems associated with improper management of solid wastes, it is necessary to modify and eliminate the existing defects in dormitories immediately.
