Investigation of the Effectiveness of Psychoeducation on the Mental Health of Spouses of War Veterans with Chronic Psychosis

In view of the fact that war veterans’ wives are the most vulnerable people among their caretakers and relatives, it is a necessity to train and cure the psychological problems with these women, who are the major bases of the family. The purpose of the present research is to investigate the effect of psychological training on improvement of the mental health of spouses of war veterans with chronic psychosis in Tehran Province.
The research was performed with semi-pilot method and with a pretest-posttest design on families visiting Sadr Psychiatry Hospital in Tehran. 22 spouses of war veterans were selected with availability sampling method, and included in the two experimental and control groups. General health assessment scale (28-QHG) and demographic characteristics were used for data collection. SPSS software and covariance analysis statistical test were used for data analysis.
Based on the data obtained from the research, psychological training has been effective on improvement of the research participants’ mental health and the variables depending on it in (P In general, psychological training sessions have been effective on enhancement and improvement of the mental health of spouses of psychotic war veterans.
