Correlation of Islamic Lifestyle with Life Satisfaction and Mental Health
Aims:
In the Islamic lifestyle, the divine worldview and the perfectionist and prosperous values are dominant, which play a vital role in providing mental health and life satisfaction. The aim of the present research was to investigate the correlation of Islamic lifestyle with life satisfaction and mental health among the students.
Materials & Methods:
The current descriptive-correlational research was conducted in Kashan in 2013. The statistical population consisted of all male and female students of Kashan University. 360 students were selected by stratified sampling according to sample size as a statistical sample. The research tools were Kaviani Islamic Lifestyle Survey Testshort form (ILST), Diener’s Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and Goldberg and Hillier’s General Health Questionnaire–28 (GHQ-28). The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and using SPSS 21software.
Findings:
The statistical mean score of Islamic lifestyle was 380.21±48.52, mental health 26.43±15.17 and life satisfaction 21.27±7.69. There was a significant and positive correlation between Islamic lifestyle variable with life satisfaction variable (p<0.001; r=0.42), also, there was a significant and positive correlation between Islamic lifestyle variable with and mental health (p<0.001; r=0.35).
Conclusion:
Islamic lifestyle is correlated with the life satisfaction and mental health of individuals.
