Evaluation of Satisfaction with Natural Delivery Experience and its Related Factors in Rasht Women

Mothers' experience and their satisfaction with midwifery care during labor and childbirth are the most important factor in assessing the midwifery quality. The aim of this study was to determine the factors relating to women's satisfaction with normal childbirth.

126 postpartum women, hospitalized in the postpartum ward, participated in a descriptive cross-sectional study. Participants were selected using a convenience sampling method. Data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire containing three parts as; personal factors, environmental factors, and actions related to labor and childbirth. Data were analyzed using SPSS-20 software by Spearman correlation, Pearson correlation, and t-test tests.

The mean score of mothers' satisfaction of care during normal birth was 59.03±6.53 which was near the average. The environmental factors had the highest satisfaction among participant (68.00±2.78). Access to the labor facilities and obtaining enough information about the birth had the same effect on the mothers' satisfaction during the birth experience (p<0.001, r=0.54). Caregivers’ respectful manner was the most important factor in women’s childbirth satisfaction in care experiences (r=0.60, p<0.001).

The quality of the relationship between women and caregivers’ during labor and childbirth was one of the important factors in women’s satisfaction by normal birth. Promoting the women-centered maternity services and having an appropriate relationship are two main factors in improving the care quality in terms of women’s satisfaction by normal birth
