Aims
Postpartum depression is one of the important psychological problems of the mother during pregnancy and afterwards. The purpose of this study was to determine postpartum depression based on spouse intimacy and general self-efficacy in the first birth.
Material and
Method
It was a cross- sectional study. The statistical population consists of all women who had the first birth experience in the city of Yazd. With multistage cluster random sampling method, 200 women selected and were tested by Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), Sherer Self-Efficacy Scale (SES) and Walker and Thompson Intimacy Scale. Data was analyzed by Pearson correlation, Independent samples t-test, Analysis of Variance and Multivariate Regression analysis.
Results
The results showed that there was a relationship between age and education with postpartum depression (p0.05). The main hypothesis of the study was that the spouse intimacy, self-efficacy and age were predicted postpartum depression in the first birth (p
