Abstract:
Pollution from heavy metal ions in industrial wastewater is one of the most important and most dangerous pollutants in the environment. If these ions would not be controlled, they can penetrate into surface water and underground water, creating toxic compounds and creating potential risks for humans and the ecosystem. In this research, the purpose of adsorption of heavy metal ions from zinc and copper from industrial effluents using composite hydrogels of polyvinyl alcohol / carboxymethyl cellulose (PVA / CMC) is carried out by freeze-thawing method. The response procedure method was used to optimize and determine the best conditions for the production of hydrogels. Optimized hydrogels were able to remove a high percentage of copper ions. Therefore it is able to successfully use for treating heavy metals contaminated with sewage.
