Phenomenological Analysis of Symbol in Alfred Schutz's Views

One of the prevalent terms in the realm of humanities is symbol. It is almost always regarded ‎as a fundamental concept in anthropology, psychoanalysis, hermeneutics and literature. Thus, ‎the analysis of its internal mechanism, along with a discussion of its importance could be ‎found in different fields. However, as far as I know, there is no independent research which ‎holds a phenomenological perspective in analyzing symbol. Accordingly, this article is to ‎provide such an analysis on the basis of Alfred Schutz's viewpoints, himself a celebrated ‎social phenomenologist. Such a research, hence, involves analyzing Schutz's theoretical ‎framework about such issues as consciousness, inter-subjectivity, and appresentaion, as well. ‎He has adopted this concept from Husserl and applied it in his explication of the symbol's ‎mechanism. In the end, it is revealed that Schutz's Phenomenological understanding of symbol ‎had its specific preliminaries and consequences. ‎
