Geomorphological Study of formation and developments of Sand Ramps (Case study: Ebrahimabad Plain-Mehriz)

Sand Ramps is a kind of sedimentary accumulation found at the foot of the slopes of some desert and semi-desert region in the world. The landform unlike sand dune are complex that are created and developed by different processes. The main goal of this study is to investigate creation and evolution of Sand Ramps by different factors in eastern slopes of the mountains of Ebrahimabad plain in the west s formayof Mehriz city. For doing it, we have studied the direction and intensity of winds and also geometry parameters of samples of sediments along the longitudinal and depth profiles. Findings show that the direction and speed of winds are not the cause of the formation of sand ramps and climbing sand on the slope. Because, in some sample there were gravel about 30 percent that winds would not able to move them never. However, sand ramps locations are not compatible with prevailing wind direction. In addition, the accumulation of sands has located at the foot of Kerman Conglomerate outcrop which is weathered as physical form simply in cold weather. In according to, the main constituents of the sand ramps in the region is the result of descending of weathered sands. But after primary formation of the landform, winds has interfered and transferred finer grain of sand from plain upwards and after clashed with the mountain deposited.
