Comparative Theology: An Attempt to Expand Understanding of Sacred Texts

We cannot be ignorant of other religions as we were in the past. Our familiarity with other religious traditions has provided us with new grounds for discussing, comparing, and refining our religious understanding. Comparative theology is an interesting topic in our world, but comparision may be daunting for those who are interested in living devotedly in their religious tradition. Therefore, regardless of being feasible or not, the procedures of comparative studies that recommend ignoring religion and religious traditions during the study may be a challenge to the traditional understanding of religion. This paper attempts to introduce new approaches to comparative theology with more doctrinal and theological features and introduce awareness of other religious traditions as the basis for a better understanding of one‟s own religious tradition.
