The Era of Globalization and the Impact of Ethnic Orientations on National Security of Islamic Republic of Iran

Globalization is an inevitable process that seeks to internationalize and eliminate geographic boundaries. Today, globalization is the most explicit trend in the convergence of countries, the most important dimension of which is the maintenance of the national security of the countries. The present study aims to survey the globalization and the impact of ethnic orientations on the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Globalization, as an independent variable, by facing the governments with the new opportunities and threats has brought up a kind of security enigma. The new security opportunities and threats originate from the integration and interdependence of economic, political, social and security areas. In ethnicity, same as other areas, the process of globalization can have different and sometimes conflicting effects. Some scholars believe in blending and even transforming subcultures and ethnic, local and national identities into a dominant and prevailing global culture, whereas, some other argue that the process of globalization has led to uprising ethnic, local and national orientations. Therefore, if the government neglects this matter, different ethnic groups in different countries can pose the globalization as a threat for the country's national security. Moreover, the existence of ethnic groups with the same religion in the neighboring countries and their relationship with each other, the interference of foreign agents, and the ethnic border position and so on can be a threat to national security.
