China-EU Relation During Trump Presidency

China, despite its differences in many areas, including the government's strong role in the economy and the human rights issue, is an important strategic partner for the European Union.
China can play an important role in maintaining international order and stability and global governance. This role requires increasing China's accountability and compliance with international order. The number of factors that brought China and the EU as important international actors closer to each other are increasing, and their cooperation and partnership has become a necessity. This issue was clearly underlined by the parties at the 20th Summit in July 2018. Increasing insecurity and international tensions, protectionism, climate change, terrorism and many other issues have led to a joint commitment by the parties to maintain multilateralism based on international law against protectionism policies, especially those from the United States.Given the above mentioned issues, this article is an attempt to study the implications of US Trump on China – EU relations and whether China and the EU, despite their differences in political, economic and human rights areas, are considering their strategic partnership a must in the 21st century, or have just come closer to one another to confront Trump policies? Is there any opportunity or threat or both in such proximity for EU in the future? In this paper, it is first tried to investigate the EU stand toward China Belt – Road Mega Project by studding the areas of China-EU partnership under the 2020 document and then by Looking through the statistics of military exchanges between Europe and Asia-Pacific countries and military costs of both sided, the conclusion has made at the end that the European Union should gradually see China as a strategic partner on international issues and needs to look at China as both threat and opportunity at the same time not a mere threat.
