Passing through the Fog

“Iblis” (the devil) is one of the mos t important characters in the s tory of creation in various religions and rituals, has been envisioned with various manifes tations. In the s tudy of Malak-Tāwūs, the legendary aspects of the Yazidi cus toms and the semblance of the devil in the form of a “peacock” are analyzed. This article intends to introduce the mythology and folklore of the Yazidis as one of the manifes tations of the presence of Iblis in folklore and mythology through the analysis of the book mentioned. Considering the extensive research on the Yazidis and their religion, the main advantage of this work is in the field research and the collection of the oral narratives of the followers of this tradition, which was lacking from previous researches.
