An Explanation of the Reasons for Formation of the Shiite Movement in Yemen Based on the Hrair Dekmejian’s Theory Of Periodic Movements

Message:
Abstract:
During the last three decades, we have witnessed a reinforcement of self-awareness and an emergence of political-social movements among the nations of the region, especially the Arab Shiites of the Middle East, with dramatic domestic and foreign consequences. One of them is the movement of the Shiites of Yemen in the form of al-Hawthi movement in the early part of the current century. During the last two decades, both the Yemeni government and the Saudi government have used all means, including military invasion, to eradicate the Zaidi combatants. However, they have not achieved their goal. In contrast, the movement has increased its growth by taking proper tactics and policies, in a way that it has turned into the major and influential player in the internal scene of Yemen and an emergent player in the regional scene. The main question of the present article is as follows: “what are the causes for the movement of the Yemeni Shiites and al-Hawthi movement?” Using Hrair Dekmejian’s theory of periodic movements, we may well explain the six causes for that movement.
