EFFECTIVE COMPONENTS ON OPTIMUM POPULATION

This article is based on the experience of developed countries in dealing with the population and population policy (adopting population control policies over the past decades and changing the demographic policy approaches in the last two decades towards increasing population growth) as well as the capacities mentioned in upstream documents in the field of population, examines models for determining the optimal population, and finally presents an index (OPI) to measure population optimization. With the help of this indicator, we analyze the status of the country's current capacity to accept the population, and by comparing this capacity to the current population growth rate, the proportion of the current rate of population growth is compared with the country's capacity. This index shows that our country does not have a good ranking in the quantitative and qualitative development of agriculture, and the consumption pattern is very consumable in the country. A remarkable point in this conclusion is that due to the decline in population growth rate and women's fertility rate, the size of the Iranian households has decreased and with the coincidence of changes in the modern lifestyle, people are more consumable and lavish.
Thus, the current status of the Iranian population in terms of the OPI index indicates the country's unfavorable situation in both areas of resource productivity and fertility, which represents a huge distance with its optimal population.
