Abstract:
Activity in virtual social networks affects the various aspects of the lives of users. Virtual social networking allows the user to get familiar with people of different cultures so it can influence the cultural consumption of users. The purpose of this article is to examine the impact of virtual social networks (Telegram, Instagram and Twitter) and social trust on the fourth-generation cultural consumption. In this study, theories of Simmel, Bourdieu, Giddens, and Castells have been used. The research method in this study was based on the positivist approach and the use of scrolling technique. The second high school students in Tehran were collected as the statistical population and three regions_1, 7&16_ were selected as sample areas. The sample size was 380 according to the Cochran formula. They were selected by multi-stage random cluster sampling. The findings indicate that the use of the fourth generation of social networks has had a direct and positive impact on the cultural consumption of respondents; as social trust increases, cultural consumption also increases.
