Paternal family health relationship, family function with identity styles in adolescents

The most important goal of adolescence is the development of a personal identity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between father's family health, family function and identity styles in adolescents. The statistical population of the study consisted of female secondary school students of Kermanshah state high schools, who were studying in the school year 1395-1396. 200 people were selected by cluster random sampling method. In order to assess the health of the paternal family, the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) of the Goldberg and Hiller Questionnaire (1979) and McMaster Family Family Measurement and the Identity Styles Questionnaire (ISI) of Bazzoni 1989 were used for questionnaires. The results of Pearson correlation coefficient showed that there is a significant relationship between paternal family health, family function and adolescent identity styles. Therefore, family cohesion can be considered as a predictor variable for the teenage identity crisis. As a result, in this research, the family can influence the level of experience of the person's individual identity crisis, one of the factors affecting the normal development of personality, overcoming the developmental tasks, and the performance and healthy behaviors of the person in the most challenging stage of his life, "adolescence."
