Subject Analysis of IFLA Paper Selections Compared to NLAI Research Priorities

Determine the policy for selecting, translating and publishing selected IFLA articles in line with research priorities of the organization. Methodology was content analysis and comparative evaluation. The research community of 455 articles between 2000 and 2015 selected IFLA articles and research priorities list of the organization includes 75 titles. First, the titles and abstracts of the research articles and research priorities of the organization were analyzed literally. Then the list of subject concepts extracted from the articles and priorities was documented with the subject headings of the Persian language and the ISFA thesaurus and classified in the subject categories of Lisa and their subject-oriented topics were compared together. In the selection of IFLA articles, the highest frequency was related to the thematic category of library materials with a frequency of 71 (15.6%) and library and reading (literacy) categories with the frequency of 4 (0.81) had the lowest abundance. In the research priorities of the organization, the organization (management) with the frequency of 17 (23%) had the highest frequency and the categories of bibliographic control, information and communication technology, and reading (literacy) had the lowest frequency of one (1%). IFLA Paper Selections and NLAI Research Priorities have the moste different frequencies in libraries applications and users, library materials, organization management, and knowledge and learning. This shows they have different subject coverage, so it is necessary to pay attention to select papers for translating.
