Employment Status of the Healthcare Management Graduates in Zabol University of Medical Sciences
Developing competent workforce in all healthcare disciplines is essential to improving the performance of the health system. Graduates from these fields must be employed effectively with respect to geographical location and the type of expertise so as to have the best possible performance. The purpose of the present research was to identify the employment status ofthe healthcare management graduates of Zabol University of Medical Sciences.
This descriptive longitudinal study was conducted in Zabol University of Medical Sciences in 2018. 100 graduates of healthcare management between 2009 and 2017 were selected using total population sampling. A questionnaire developed by the researchers was used to collect data. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS 19.
29% of the participants found their job by participating in the recruitment exam of the National Organization of Educational Testing. 81.2% of the participants were satisfied with their job. About 72% of the graduates were employed in jobs related to their field of study. 35% of the graduates were working in administrative departments. There was not a significant relationship between the graduates’ job and their field of study (p value > 0.05).
Health managers and policymakers can increase the productivity of graduates and organizations if they have a systematic plan in place to employ individuals based on their field of study.
