Ethical Competence of University Administrators: Concepts, Components, and Prioritization

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the concepts and to prioritize the ethical competency components of university managers. The research method is applied in terms of purpose and in terms of data collection, it is a descriptive survey. The statistical population was all employees of Tehran University who were selected by stratified random sampling method. To collect the data, a researcher-made questionnaire of moral competence with five components of moral competence toward God, self, others, organization and occupation was used. The construct validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability of the tool was obtained by Cronbach's alpha coefficient to be 0.98. The results of Friedman's ranking test showed that the mean ratings of moral competence components were significantly different and the moral competence component to God and to the job were highest.
