Effect of morphological variables, altitude and aspect on gum production of Pistacia atlantica in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari forests
Pistachio trees (Pistacia atlantica Desf.) have been characterized for edible seeds and gum many years ago. This will cause to utilize from current valuable species. In order to evaluation of some quantitative and qualitative properties of pistachio trees on gum yield the Bazoft Maze Rashte forests from Kohrang province were selected. The research information’s were achieved from pistachio trees with the diameter at breast height (DBH) of more than 20 cm. The gum measurements were applied according to natural resources and watershed management technical committee instruction using mod blows. After forest census and arrangement of data’s done by Excel software the SPSS software was used for statistical analysis. The analysis results of mastic trees properties revealed the breast mean diameter and the height of studied trees were 43.3 cm and 5.25 m respectively. The related trees had good health and moderate yield. The results of Pierson correlation showed that variable parameters comprising of breast diameter, height, crown and sea level height had significant correlation with turpentine yield at 1 percent level. The findings of multi parameter model revealed the variables of breast diameter and height of sea level could estimate the turpentine yield with the coefficient of determination of 0.753.
