Evaluating park pricing on travellers’ changing mode choice in Qazvin
Today, excessive increase in car ownership has caused problems such as lack of park in metropolises, so an efficient parking policy is an important component of urban transport planning. As the aim of parking policy measures is to influence decisions made during the parking process. Parking pricing is one method for parking management. Previous international studies have shown that in most cases parking pricing decrease share of private car use and reduce demand of car park, but do not surveyed changing mode choice that is so important for planning and policy- making. This study, based on a field survey of 287 Gazvin citizens and calibrating multinomial logit models has analyzed travellers’ changing mode choice in face of different scenarios of park pricing on the main street for peak and off-peak hours, also has surveyed travellers’ sensitivity analysis by increasing price of parking. Results shows, by increasing price of parking of peak hours, share of pay and park in main streets decrease, and demand respectively deviate to use of private car and non- payment (park in alley, travel to a deserted street then park and continue by taxi or bus, travel in off- peak hours), taxi, bus and other modes (walking, motorcycle, bicycle).
