Assessment of Tehran Metropolitan Police Staff Job Burnout

Abstract:
the aim of this study is to measure the job burnout as well as the priority of effectiveness of each of its dimension among Tehran metropolitan police staff. This is an applied research and its method is descriptive survey. The study statistical population includes all police personnel in two chief stations located in the north and south of Tehran. In this study, a sample of 120 police personnel was selected by cluster sampling. Data was collected using a standard questionnaire of Maslach et al., (1996) with 0.75 Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Hypotheses were analyzed using SPSS, Friedman test and two independent samples t-test. The findings suggest that job burnout status among Tehran metropolitan police personnel is in a sobering situation according to the obtained mean (2.93), also results of two independent samples t-test showed that the amount of job burnout in staff of two chief stations were not statistically different. The results showed that from among the dimensions of job burnout (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and lack of personal performance), emotional exhaustion had a greater influence on the rate of job burnout among staff.
