The Story of Wine among Iranians

In this paper, the story of distilling and drinking wine among Iranians has been reviewed in mythological and historical texts. Particularly, some important Iranian history books such as Beihaghi, Ghabusnameh, Siyasatnameh are searched. These sources talk about wine, especially in Iranian courts. This study shows the historical reasons for appearing and surviving of so many words that relate wine to Persian poetry, though it is forbidden in Islam.
