Previsualization, it’s influences in film photography and how to revive it in digital photography.

This text is an analysis of previsualization in film photography with a view to complications and impositions of ellipse in digital photography and how to revive and utilize this process (previsualization) in digital photography. There is two kind of photography. The first is photochemical photography which capture picture (photons) on chemical film(negative or slide film).this captured picture is latent and needs several chemical processes to become seeable one. thus this photographic method is called ‘film photography’ too. The second is digital photography which capture picture (photons) on electronic sensor (for example, CCD or CMOS). this captured picture is electrical signal and needs to convert to binary data (zero and one). Because the final photograph is digitally image, this photographic method is called ‘digital photography’. one of the most important difference between photochemical (film) photography and digital photography is “previsualization”.there is this process (previsualization) in film photography and there isn’t in digital photography. This process means seeing final photograph in mind before its capturing and processing. Previsualization is an essential subjective process in film photography because in this kind of photography, photographer can’t see final photograph in the moment of capturing or immediately after release of shutter button. . previsualize of picture before it’s capturing helps photographer to adjust accurate camera settings and manipulate of photographic technics in correct manner. Unfortunately, previsualization is eliminated in digital photography.
In film photography, there is a long time between recording moment and seeing final photo from some hours till some days. In this time probably the scene which was captured is wasted and destroyed, so photographer should make use of his whole attention and precision to record a perfect image. As he or she should imagine final photo in his mind before releasing shutter button and to achieve ideal image he must select best and perfect camera settings and control some photography prolusions. This intellectual effort and visualization accede best photo is called previsualization. This is not a wild goose chase, of course this process improves photographer skills. In digital photography because there is not a time among recording moment and seeing final photo, previsualization is ignored. in this method photographer can observes image immediately after taking photo in camera’s LCD or external monitor, if photo is not appropriate he can take photo again with new camera settings. So it causes many problems and complications like inattention to reproduction of subject’s tones, camera settings and etc. some solutions can be useful to reduce or delete problems and finally can revive previsualization. these solutions are: photographer don’t see image immediately after taking photo in camera’s LCD or external monitor.at first he/she must look at scene (subject) accurately for evaluating subject’s tones, afterward with optical viewfinder select camera settings and then take photo. Finally see photo after transfer it to computer to do previsualization completely .thus previsualization and it’s technical and esthetic influences can be used again.
