Representation of the discourse of Islamic Revolution in TV series (case study: Beautiful Revolution)
The TV texts by employing words. Images and sounds, create meanings which look at events and phenomenon from an especial angle. In fact. Such texts interprets and recreate incidence and social events on basis of particular objectives. Studying the way such events are represented or reflected in TV texts which include performances which demonstrate how a discourse is given prominence or discarded or shows other discourses. From this perspective, this study is aimed at by studying the TV series of the “Beautiful Revolution “that was aired in 2014 from Iranian State TV, provided the narration of the Islamic Revolution. For this reason, the said TV series was studied by using John Fiske Semiotics Method. The findings of this study show that technical and social codes in a polarized manner have been used to define the discourse of the revolution. The discourse of the Islamic Revolution based on this representation, is in contrast to dictatorial discourse. The forming elements of the discourse of the Islamic Revolution is introduced by referring to personal identity, connection to the past and deliberation with pioneers and is combined with knowledge, human values, awareness and social presence. While, the anti- revolution discourse is villain, rootless, dictatorial and democratic which is after gaining influence and creating insecurity.
