Text analysis of the science book of the sixth grade of elementary school in 95-96
This study aimed to evaluate the new version of science book of the sixth grade of elementary school and the method is according to William Roman’s “invitation and encouraging to study”. The study starts in 1395-96 academic year in Iran.
The study aimed to answer the following questions: How texts, images and questions in the book activates students in the class?
This study was conducted according to context analysis. Community for study were science book of the sixth grade of elementary school that the whole text of the book was analyzed. Units of study and analysis of text, images and questions were based on the categories of active and passive subjects by William Roman’s formula and index analysis engages the learner in each specific case. To calculate frequency percentage, excel software was used.
Engaging learner’s factor in texts, images and questions of the science book of sixth grade are 1/06, 0/47, 0/95 and total engaging factor is 0/82. It shows this book activates students and calls them to study.
