The Role of Sustainable Development Components in Locating New Cities for Population Management in Urmia Metropolis

The main purpose of this paper is to locate new cities for metropolitan population overflow with a sustainable development approach with emphasis on the Urmia metropolis. The main question of this paper is: Can proper urbanization of the metropolitan areas (Urmia metropolitan area) be optimally organized? Research Method This research is descriptive-analytical and its type is applied. The tool used to model such an analysis is the GIS tool, and in recent years it has been clear that GIS utilization methods along with the effective use of new digital data are able to give new life to urban development modeling theories in policies. It is planning. The basis of this study is to provide information layers based on the factors and criteria that affect their location and integration and overlay in the ARC GIS software environment and to use the Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP) model to weight the information criteria and layers. EXPERT CHOISE software was used to calculate AHP weights in the process. The findings of the paper show that one of the components of population recruitment to new cities is the high quality of urban services, the relief of metropolitan urban problems and the organized environmental quality of life in which the quality of life is higher than that of the city. Based on the results, three options were proposed as new options for the construction of the new city and the first option was selected as the final option.
