Relations between the event of Ashura and anti-oppression movements up to our time
Throughout history, there have occured many revolutions here and there in Muslim lands that have left their impressions on the people of their own time and the posterity. Some of them have had limited influences both spatially and temporally. However, some revolutions have left some influence on certain peoples but the passage of time minimized their influence. In contrast, Imam al-Husayn's movement was apparently suppressed owing to the bloodbath that was committed at Karbala; however, the long-term effects of this movement can well be sensed even after fourteen centuries.
