The Effectiveness of Inter-Systemic Forgiveness Intervention on Rebuilding Women's Trust after Husband’s Infidelity

The present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of inter-systemic forgiveness intervention on rebuilding trust in women suffering from husband’s infidelity. The research method was a quasi-experimental one using a pattern of pretest-posttest design along with control and proceeding groups. The sample included the statistical population containing all women affected by husband’s infidelity who referred to a counseling center in Tehran. It was composed of 20 women who were purposefully selected and were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The research instrument employs two questionnaires: 1- Interpersonal Trust Scale with 18 items; and 2- Scale of Evaluating Marital Forgiveness with 10 items. Statistical analysis was carried out by using T-test on two groups and analyzing the variance. The findings indicated that the effectiveness of inter-systemic forgiveness treatment on the foresaid women was leading to the promotion of trust components as well as avoiding the reduction of the amount of forgiveness components such as anger. (p <0/001) The difference between pretest-posttest and posttest-follow up also reflected improvement and stability of promotion at proceeding stage. Subsequently, it can be concluded that inter-systemic forgiveness therapy enhances the confidence of women affected by infidelity.
