A comparative study on the view of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and other Islamic sects on polytheism of the pagans at the prophet Muhammad's age
Does the polytheism in the prophet Muhammad's age was limited to different deities and they believed in one God or different Gods? Muhammad ibn abd al-wahhab maintains that the pagans at the time of our holy prophet believed in oneness of God but the senses of this God were different. Accepting this theory, Muhammad ibn abd al-wahhab declared Haram all kinds of supplication to God other than the direct way. He considered himself a great reformist to the right path of all prophets throughout the history. Muhammad ibn abd al-wahhab believed that Muslims believed in non-direct ways of calling the God is Pagan, just as the pagans of prophet Muhammad's time. In this essay, his ideas in this issue will be criticized and proved that there are a far difference between the pagans of prophet's time and those calling God indirectly. The result of this research is that the reason that pagans were polytheist was not their exaggeration toward good guys, as claims Ibn ibn abd al-Wahhab, but in believing that they had Godly powers. Pagans had no believe in deity of God in all aspects. There are so many problems in comparing the Muslims, supplicating to God indirectly, with pagans of our prophet's age.
