The Anthropological Foundations of Theorizing Communication & Media Policy Making

This research is an interdisciplinary study of the impact of “Philosophical Anthropology” on “Communication Theorizing” & Media Policy Making. The research is opting to survey on the fact that how paradigm shift in anthropological thought has transformed communication knowledge. To achieve this, by acquiring the methodology of library study & focus group, the manifestations of the discourse between the two mass approaches of philosophical anthropology (Nominalism & essentialism) in communication theories and media policy making were extracted. The findings of the research direct us to a new cognition of media knowledge which can be divided into two communication theories of essentialism & nominalism under the influence of anthropology. This also indicates the fact that technology and media literacy are inside the context of anthropology. In addition to that the outcomes lead us to the understanding of how dominant anthropology discourses have produced pre assumptions which have been effective in theorizing of media policy making. And, the origin of these pre assumptions have not been visible to us so far.
